Environment
Just how much bad stuff does the average home introduce into the atmosphere each year from fossil fuel energy production?
Remember, this energy is what is running your lights and your fridge. How about, in round numbers: 4900 lbs of carbon; 31lbs of sulphur dioxide; 52 lbs of nitrogen oxide; and a couple of lbs of particulate matter and volatile organic compounds. Yuck! And try breathing 18,000 lbs of carbon dioxide each year! How about losing 6700 gallons of water from power plant waste heat cooling!
Hmm, let's see now, SO2 equals haze and acid rain. NOx equals smog and acid rain. PM10 equals lung ailments. CO2 equals climate change and VOC's equal smog and cancer causing toxic compounds released into the atmosphere, which definitely makes you less well when ingesting it. Solar power equals….no smog, no lung ailments, nada?!
Come on folks, we can clean this mess up. Go Solar! |
